(NIV)I want to open with an apology. It has been one month since the last devotional. It has been a time in our life that has been a bit trying. It has been a period in which our patience and our faith has been put through its' paces. Those of you with teenage daughters who are about to graduate high school can appreciate that. To say the least, it has not been a pleasant time.
Couple that scenario with the "regular" things in our life; full time jobs, full time Chaplaincy, part time consulting... well, you get the idea. We are sometimes robbed of our time by the enemy, who wants to distract us from our relationship with our REAL CHIEF.
While I have been neglectful in writing this article, it really has been a time of spiritual growth. I am studying the New Testament this year in a chapter-by-chapter daily format. And, for the first time in my life, I am taking lots of notes and journaling what I am studying. Also, I have learned, through HIM and prayer, that HE must have my full surrender... It's like the old demonstration of trust - someone stands behind you and you must allow yourself to fall backwards with complete faith that the person will catch you.
Our REAL CHIEF has a gift for you when you place your trust in HIM; stress relief. In HIS own words, CHRIST tells us not to let our hearts be troubled... HE is here to catch us.
When emergencies pop up on your "fire grounds of life," are you trying to handle them by yourself? Are you finding that as you "put out one fire" that two more pop up behind you?
You have help. Call for mutual aid... pray to our REAL CHIEF to assume command. Trust that HE can mitigate your emergencies as you serve...
