"In GOD We Trust"

"Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you."

- Psalm 9:10 (NIV)

You know the phrase well... "In GOD We Trust." It's on the back of our currency. Wait... haven't seen much of that lately! Seriously, though, there are those trying to 'free' our country of that phrase. They struggle to take GOD away from us. But, it is not something we should take lightly... In fact, each of us should by saying, "In GOD I Trust." Make it a pact between our REAL CHIEF and you.

All of us, in almost all of our relationships in life, have experienced trust. Trust is a huge thing, isn't it? When a child tells you they are going to do something and they don't do it... trust is damaged. When you tell your child not to do something and you do it, trust is damaged. When your child does something that is way, way against the rules, trust is damaged. When you catch someone lying to you, trust is damaged.

Damaged trust hurts. Damaged trust can destroy relationships. Trust that is damaged takes a long time to mend, doesn't it? Of course, you can help redevelop that trust through forgiveness. But, it "takes two to Tango," as they say, and the person violating the trust has to understand that trust must be 'won back' by avoiding deceitfulness... in other words, tell the truth!

Trust is also a beautiful thing. It is an element, I believe, of love. Think about it... when love is strong, so is trust.

Our verse this week is to remind us that we must trust in our REAL CHIEF. Even when trust has been broken in a human relationship, we must trust our hurt to HIM. In fact, our verse this week reminds us that those of us who are believers WILL trust in HIM. Why? Because HE has NEVER forsaken (deserted; abandoned) those of us who seek HIM. That's a huge promise from GOD... give it to HIM.

Have you been hurt by someone who stole some trust? Give it to GOD. Are you weary from work? Give it to GOD. Are you depressed because of your job situation - or a relationship - or a sickness? Give it to GOD. Is there worry in your life because of the financial situation? Give it to GOD.

TRUST GOD. HE will not forsake those serving...

...On HIS Shift,
